If there is one sport that a pandemic won’t stop, it’s professional football; though, just like everyone else, the NFL is dealing with new COVID-19 protocols.
In addition to playing in front of thousands of empty seats, this year’s season is about change. Players like Tom Brady, DeAndre Hopkins, Philip Rivers, Rob Gronkowski, Cam Newton, Todd Gurley and many more are suiting up with a new different franchise this season. Brady left the New England Patriots to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hopkins is playing for the Arizona Cardinals instead of being back with the Houston Texans. Even past MVP Cam Newton has taken Brady’s old spot with the New England for the Patriots.
Still, the NFL moves forward, with empty stadiums, masks and ongoing discussions about social justice.
“While this season will forever be defined by a heartbreaking global pandemic and a transformative social justice movement, I am reminded of the tenacious, resilient spirit of our country, the NFL community, and you, the greatest fans in the world. Thank you for your continued support,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said.
