"Others before YOU"

Philippians 2:3-4

“Be free from pride-filled opinions, for they will only harm your cherished unity. Don’t allow self-promotion to hide in your hearts, but in authentic humility put others first and view others as more important than yourselves.”

“Abandon every display of selfishness. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests.”

In these verses Paul is teaching us how perfect unity can be shown. With Paul teaching this to the church of Philippi it also teaches the heart of Jesus.

We live in a world today where it is a “Me first” and “I got to get mines” mentality. But in the scripture Paul is telling us to do the opposite. Paul’s words which come from the Holy Spirit is saying to be unselfish to the point where you care more about the other person than yourself.

This is ultimately showing the character of Jesus when we do this.

Having the mindset of knowing that all our success isn’t because of self it is because God has blessed us with that success. So, who are we to be filled with selfish ambition knowing that the motives aren’t pure?

God who knows all and sees all blesses those with pure motives and hearts. We should want and strive to care and love one another. This creates unity.

Putting others before yourself is not a negative thing, it is the right thing to do. God wants us to show that daily in our lives.
