Philippians 4:10-23

ree

In these verses Paul is writing to the church of Philippi and during his ending to the book of Philippians he is giving thanks for their support.

While Paul was writing this letter, he was still imprisoned by the Romans. Writing this from his prison cell!

Paul shows his gratitude towards the Philippians as they help financially support towards his ministry. I want to highlight two things about these verses.

  1. 1. Is the character of Paul. As well-known as Paul was, he could’ve acted differently and more selfishly towards the Philippians giving. Instead, he passionately gave thanks to them for their giving regardless of how small or large it was.

  • - Paul understands the importance of being content and blessed with what he has. In verse 11 it says, “I’m not telling you this because I’m in need, for I have learned to be satisfied in any circumstance.”

  • - Paul remembers what the Philippians has done for him. He never forgot the support they gave during his ministry.

  1. 2. Is the giving of the Philippians. Giving is another way to show the love of God to others. With all they had the Philippians gave to Paul and supported his ministry.

  • - By their giving Paul reminded them that an abundant reward will come. It was more than just the gifts he was receiving. It was the fact that fruit was being produced by the act of giving what meant more to Paul.

  • - The Philippians trusted in Paul’s ministry but trusted in God’s provision even more. Knowing the little they had to offer they still gave!

Now what can we take from this?

There are blessings from both sides from the giver to the one receiving. Having the heart of thankfulness and gratitude is important when we receive anything. Being willing to give shows represents the heart of Jesus. Knowing that we serve a God who is a provider, a God who knows all and sees all will reward us abundantly.

Be willing to GIVE!

Have a heart of GRATITUDE!

Choose LOVE first!
